Averatec 4155 EH-1 laptop : My review

It has been a couple of weeks since I bought the Averatec 4155 EH-1 laptop and my first thought was that this looks like a DELL inside a MAC. This powerhouse possesses an AMD Turion 64-bit processor and great looks (looks like a MAC) which are the most striking features of this machine. The screen is the best I have seen on any laptops and the picture quality is crisp. It is light weight and ideal for anyone on the go....

Here is my review of Averatec 4155 EH-1

Weight : 4.5 lbs (approx) Rating : 5/5
Looks : White in color, slim Rating : 4/5
Screen : 13.3" WXGA (GT) Rating : 5/5
CPU : Turion64 MT-30 (yes it is AMD) Rating : 3/5
Sound/Speakers Rating : 3/5
Wireless enabled - 802.11g Rating : 4/5

The machine is stable and has a CD/DVD burner. The AMD processor performs as good as the INTEL ones. I have not tested it on ant 64-bit applications yet (it is a 64-bit next generation processsor). The only disappointment is that the machine gets heated up too fast for a laptop, if only AMD can implement better cooling that would make it ideal. But if you are planning to go for 64-bit processors, AMD surely has the edge as it is backward compatible i.e. it can run all 32-bit applications(currently most of applications in market are 32 bit). Intel will not support 32 bit applications on your machine...

The sound quality is good but the maximum volume is a bottleneck if you want to watch movies in a group. There are 3 USB ports, Firewire port, 4 in 1 card reader and a some others as well. So it is loaded with most of the ports that you can imagine. A b/g wireless card would do a world of good, but the overall performance is decent.

For those who are obsessed with the looks of a MAC and do not want to go that way, Averatec 4155 EH-1 is a really good buy and yes it costs around 1000 USD, I say not a bad deal at all....
